Bought meself a bargain 1977 LT28 motorhome last night!

Here it is. 2.4 6 pot diesel. Pretty good nick. Cost me £1200 -

The problem is I didn't get 50 yards up the road before it stopped.
It's been sitting for 10 months the bloke reckons, it is a 'mare to start (ages with finger on glow plug button whilst turning key and foot flat on throttle but "always goes in the end") and when finally running it has trouble idling and the revs soon drop, you can't can't get any revs up and it dies.

Any ideas what might be the problem?
Cheers!

I'd start with the fuel filters - both of 'em. The one under the NSF wheel arch had all sorts of cr*p in it on ours (which had also been standing for about a year when we got it).

Normally
White smoke is water
Blue is oil
Black is unburnt diesel or too much diesel

Chances are its sucking water up from the water trap or fuel filter

Take the 'hump' off and try rev'ing it via the pump ,(you can get to the pump via the hatch also) that will rule out the cable and throttle pedal

Cheers for the replies!

Bloke at the garage has taken a look at it and he reckons it's probably the fuel pump and the injectors- if his diesel specialist bloke agrees he recommends getting them all reconditioned!

That'll cost over a grand. Hmm.
Disapprove

I'd try changing the fuel/air filters and then some injection cleaner first especially if it's seen stood a long time.  Our vans are old, everything is half knackered anyway LOL

Yerp, cheers volition82, I've got some local diesel expert taking a look at it now, hopefully the injectors are just full of crap!
