So I’ve installed a AFN1.9tdi running jx water pump and v belts coolant header and expansion tank
System bled and filled, expansion tank filled to max.
Engine if pushed will get to max temp and coolant level drops so stop to fill and bleed but expansion tank is full and won’t return back to header tank when cooled?
New cap fitted
No faults on vcds which I have (rosstech) but I’m a bit of a novice.
Any help would be grateful
Thanks
Mark

Sounds like the darlek header cap is faulty?
Does it quack if you blow down it?

I’ll check the cap tomorrow but It is new as I suspected this at the beginning.
Also I pushed it a little to hard yesterday which resulted in blowing a pipe 😚
Thanks

If you blew out a coolant pipe then I’d be worried about thethe VW diesels blow head gaskets almost immediately if you loose coolant from the top end when they are hot?

Ok so did a compression test
6 turns of the engine have the following readings
1)300psi
2)350psi
3)320psi
4)300psi
So am I right saying this is with spec? If so where do I go from here regarding my coolant issues?
Thanks

Compression is good I think? Not checked the specs but that sounds healthy. However HG more likely across the water way so get sniffer test on the coolant. I think you can get a DIY test?
