Ok,

Went for my campers first annual test today and failed on a number of items,
1. Poor brake performance on rear left, no problem, will sort that later today
2. Incorrect load rating on rear tyres, damn, they're like new too, but again can be sorted
3. CO idle reading of 7.17, not sure what I'll do about that as I can't find any mixture control on it, and she's running well now (see prior thread).  I've been offered a 2.5 5cyl TDi from an LT, perhaps a change may be in order Smile
4. Tester can't find the VIN number on the chassis, I know its normally behind the front chassis leg on the euro built ones but where is it on the SA's we can't find it! Anybody else found theirs?

On my 1994  2.5ltr  there's a VIN plate on the drivers door threshold just above fuel cap.

Yep, have that one too, but the CVT test requires that this is verified against the one on the chassis, which is the one we can't find, sorry I should have made that clearer in my initial post, thanks for your help tho Smile

I have an early, originally air cooled SA van (1983) with the VIN number in the engine compartment:

I used to own a 89 SA caravelle and when V5 was sent off for change of ownership details, I was told to take van to Luton DVLA ( from Leicester) for inspection. They took the van apart looking for chassis VIN stamped  number but could not find one (had a plate on door frame). Eventually the said must not have one and let me go and sent me a new updated V5.
