Topic: 2.5 microbus on Ebay Posted: 23 Jan 11 at 03:16 |
I remember seeing it in Bath a few years ago.Always parked round the back of a small garage business, possibly well maintain by a mechanic for some of it's life in the UK then? I think many of the SA buses came into UK at the Avonmouth port in Bristol. Not sure why they stayed tho? Someone did say a company in or near Bristol was importing them a few years ago. I can't confirm this or never saw them advertised. I don't think it would have been Beetles UK who bring in the Brazilian T2s.

Drove the 200 mile without a hint of any problems, lucky as it was after 3:00am when I arrived home. I've owned a microbus before and was quite surprised to find that this bus has power steering. No aircon but the heater works, well sort of, needs a thermostat. One owner from new, only 140,000 kms, body very good except for the odd rust hole. Not bad for a '91. Came from your way Bath.

Tried to put microbus to bed but you wont believe this, it didnt fit the garage, 6 inches taller than the caravelle! So now safely parked away off the road.

Nice one. Now lock it up somewhere safe! Your red badboy might turn up as it's early days yet - they can't hide it forever, it's far too distinctive.
Time to organize a Grossefenster gathering eh Charlie?

I'll put you guys out of your misery. Iam the culprit and proud owner of one 1991 blue microbus which was on ebay for a short time. Had to move quick as if it hung arround on ebay would of gone for a fortune, so made an offer he couldnt refuse. Absolutely nackered, caught train and drove bus back last night from Nottingham. Been given a second chance since TIW 3013 gone driveabout. Thanks TransPorscher for the info.

I think you know me better than that! I meant for the SA forum... I can see a nice line of very "exclusiv" T-shirts (or is it "xclusive"?)
maybe "it's an Uitenhage thing" or "Fancy a bit of the old T3 plus?" Clockwerk Orange Free State etc.
Happy to drive it every day

S'pose really it's down to metal body panel changes? not just bumper or grille mods etc.
Anything but Type 22S !! & you know a certain magazine would still call one a type twenty five !!!!

Aw c'mon Charlie - even in ETKA it's listed seperately as T3ZA!
Under that banner you've got the early 2.5 k-jet and 2.0 carb(?), later on the 2.3i, 2.6i and 1.8 carb so now we've got T3ZA series 1 and 2
I think we should call it the 22S Uberclique and be done with it

We could even start calling them 'Facelift model T3s' or considering how much they've been redesigned and not just facelifted they could be T3b model ??

or T3c since we already have aircooled+round light, water cooled+square light models...
as an example: with Bays T2a are the round bumper models (pre68), T2b the square bumper, and T2c the brazilian watercooled versions with altered rooflines

If the engine & box are ok you'll love the drive, even without PAS. You'll see why this is the best petrol engine/power combination for the T3.They got it right, not really fast but an equivalent of what modern diesels feel like today.
