Hi all,

I have bought a new T3 painted shell that originated in South Africa.  Im sure its been passed around a bit til I bought it.  It doesn't even have a chassis number yet!

Anyway, since starting to build it I have started to discover the differences and a list of things I will need to keep it pretty original to its type.  Its going to get a Golf motor but I want to run the original 85L fuel tank.  Does anyone have one or know where I might get one?  There are other bits too.

Cant wait til its done.  A new T3.

Regards, Oliver.

Never happier than when getting away in my brick.

That sounds like the shell I tried to buy a couple of years ago.
The best that I can offer is that my 2.5i Microbus is up for sale with the 5 pot Audi engine and all the correct bits for your rebuild. Looking for £7.5k ish.

if it's never been registered then aren't you going to have problems registering it ??  no way a T3 is going to pass SVA or whatever they use these days

I would have thought the only way (and to get parts like heater controls, windows etc) would be to rebody an existing van.
Could be open to selling my 2.5i!

My research tells me that getting it passed won't be a problem but I have heard that before.  I think it will be issued with a Q plate rather than a 2017/18 plate as if it were a new vehicle.  However my current dealings with DVLA have been beyond barmy so I reserve judgement on that one.

Im not short of many bits, we are having to make a few changes as quite a bit is different especially around the engine fitment but nothing to crazy.  Id like to keep most of it original.  Definitely not looking to buy another van to donor to it unless its very cheap.

I'm pretty sure if he buys a complete donor bus and re-shells it, the new body can legitimately assume the identity of the donor provinding that the original is stripped of that identity. It's just a replacement part!
