t4 syncro gearbox problems

   Hi my mate has a 2.5 tdi syncro. and the concentric slave cylinder has gone so no clutch. i said i would help him take the gearbox out i have taken all the bols/drive shafts/propshaft off and it wont budge 
it has started to separate from the engine. what else do i have to take off?  has the sub frame got to be removed? thanks in advance any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
