Partly to help our mechanic out as he's bored rigid with very little work coming in I decided to book the motorhome in for a timing belt despite it not being due for about 6-7 months.

Good thing as it turns out the water pump was leaking.  Hadn't noticed any coolant loss but under normal circumstances we'd be away this weekend and then regularly all through summer.  Not ideal with a water pump on the way out....

So at least I have something positive from the lockdown now.

The van gods are watching over you.....can you throw a word in for meBig smile

My low coolant light came on a couple of months back which sent me into panic mode because I used evans waterless coolant when I rebuilt the engine and the stuff costs a bloody fortune. I had a little pool of green in the engine splash shield but could not find the source of the leak..... I watched while the engine was running - nothing, revved it up - nothing, got the engine very hot - nothing, pressurised the system - nothing. I had a very shy leak, it would only leak when no one was watching. I ended up wrapping most of the coolant system with clean white tissue and after a little drive around voila! I found a little damp section of tissue at the bottom of the stat housing. New stat housing and seal, job done.
