Well, the way it's going trying to find a specialist here, Belgium might be the answer - whenever we can travel.    Contact details may well be useful.

Thanks

I don't have the contact details at hand, but ask me if you need them.
But I can't imagine there is no one on your island that has that expertise.

Kris

Where are you based? Much as the UK is a shitey wee island inhabited by a fair amount of of shitey folk, if you have to travel or send things within it, especially something as heavy as a gearbox it is expensive.
You also have the gamble that whoever is doing the work is actually skilled and able to fix the gearbox, and you're not just giving money to an imbecile Self IDing as an autobox specialist.
What are the fault symptoms your autobox is displaying which leads you to believe the box needs overhauled?

Hi thanks or all the replies.

The box, when it's warm, won't engage Drive straight away - when moving from Park, Reverse or Neutral.
I can either wait a while or rev it and it bangs in.  Revs on idle (Park) are about 1000 or a bit under - would if it help if idle revs are higher.
Box is NK, engine is DJ 2.2 - built from new 2 years ago.  Van has about 120k miles on it.

Thanks

So other than the fault you describe the box functions ok with no serious oil leaks?
Has the autobox had a service?
Drain oil, sump off and check  the oil filter / strainer to make sure that isn't causing a low pressure issue which your symptoms point to.
If oil is dark and a fair bit of sediment in the sump then it could be clutch pack or band wear.
But it may just need a relatively basic workover which doesn't require it being removed.
I've built several epicyclic automatic gearboxes over the years and they generally had base settings for band tension which can over time need adjusting.

Forgot to say that we did a fluid and filter change last week. About half comes out I think ( a bit under 3 litres) and it was dark with some sediment in the pan.  Apart from the fault described it is running ok.  Do you think the slowish tickover could have any effect ?   Do you know who can do an in situ service ?

Thanks

If you have changed the oil have you filled it to the correct level which should be checked with the engine running?
Symptom does point to low oil level, but it's possible if the tickover is low that might be a factor.

Did some google fu and have turned up a 22 page PDF on the 010 automatic transmission which will be useful for you. Thumbs Up

You're a diamond.   Do you know what the idle speed should be with the auto box ?

Thanks
