LT 31 ENGINE REPLACEMENT - mercedes sprinter?

   Hi all,
I bought an LT 31 (ambulance conversion camper van), the engine is gone.

I know a Volvo 2.4 engine from a 740 or 940 will fit. But I am having difficulty getting one at the right price.

A friend has a crashed Mercedes Sprinter (313 Cdi) with an engine that has just done 60K and said he will give me the engine if I want it.

I am just wondering will this engine fit? Has anyone ever done this conversion? 

Any help or advise would be appreciated.
