hello,

just doing some work on my van before going off travelling and wanted to change the cam belt. Have had a good look but can't work out how to get the pulleys / fan off to get at the bottom crank pulley...

anyone done a change before that could give me some pointers?

it's a 6 cyl 2.4 diesel.

thanks all.

Hi Tom u need to get rid of the fan cowl and fan belt then from what i remember the viscos fan has a allen key in the center and then theres the bit that the fan is on thats held on with 4 allen bolts or torx and behind that is a big bolt that holds the bottom pully on and its torqued up to 450nm and locktighted in so u need a big bar and something to lock the bottom pully with dont try and lock the fly wheel as you could damage it or the crank i got a long bit of steel that would reach the floor and welded a bar across the end that was shaped to fit into the pulley were you bolt the fan onto which then turned to the ground and locked the pully its a bitch without the real tool
