Hey I'm going to do my injection pump timing. Was planning to get it done at a specialist but i read this article:

http://vincewaldon.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemid=28" rel="nofollow - http://vincewaldon.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemid=28

...and actually it doesnt sound too hard. Think i'll order the dial gauge tool and try it mysef.

Had a bit of a search on the forum but wondering if anyone has any advice to someone trying this for the first time.

Anything to watch out for? Common mistakes? etc

Also can anyone recommend a good site to get the dial gauge and adapter from? I live in Holland so theyd have to send it there.

Thanks!

There's a video or two on youtube search D24T timing or bosch ve pump. Same as volvo.
Decent video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWyhxPM9TOE" rel="nofollow - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWyhxPM9TOE
Check marktplaats or ebay / aliexpress has many options to buy a gauge.

Engine workshop manual says i need VW adapter 2066, but the manual doesnt go up to ACL engine.

Can any ACL'ers tell me if I need same adapter for ACL or a different one

(Some stuff ive read online said that on turbo VW engines you need a 3133)

So i did it, reading was way out which i corrected to 0.85mm as recommended.

I think the van does run a bit better (less smoke, gets moving from stationary better) but starts way choppier every time. First start of the day is a long spluttery crank, and even when the engine is hot the crank is noticeably longer than it was before.

Trying to retrace my steps, bit confused!

I forgot to write a conclusion to this one.

Had trouble getting it going for a few days but t was just full of air after having been opened up. Took a few starts to get the air out now it runs like a charm Clap
