After some recent comments, time to get the ball rolling! Who's up for it?
Sometime in one of the half-terms would be a good idea maybe. Let's have a names list for a kick-off while those in the know (not me, haven't a clue) think up a venue that's reasonably central.
I've a feeling that we're all mostly in the southern half of the country?
Best keep the venue secret, what with all the theiving going on.
Then I will tell you about my mate who's just started a 1-year work placement in Joburg and a 20 kg hand luggage allowance every 2 months Wink
Have I missed anything?

I know a small private camping place just a few miles south of Bristol, does school parties etc.I know it's near a few of us !  But it's also easy for M4 & M5 motorways, for those from London or north/south directions. Or there's a house just south of Gloucester with a small caravan site in it's garden.probably enough for 10-15 vans, doesn't have to be bigger does it?

The idea was to get all the SA van owners together so that we all get to know each other, where we can get help when the shit hits the fan, organize specific bulk purchase of 22S and BCY spares and the like.
No offence, but I had in mind less of a "show and tell" for gawpers, more of a "nice to meet you" gathering one day. Tea and biscuits instead of Special Brew.
If people want to go to Vanarchy too (I was scuppered last year) to show what the ultimate T3's are all about, then that's cool.
Spew behind your own bus please...no offence!

gawpers?

i think you mean enthusiastsWink

i was merely suggesting that it may be nice for those interested or even potential S.A. owners to have a nose and at the same bulk up the numbers of what could in real terms be a three or four van meet with fellow brickies.

but if you prefer a S.A. only van meet then its entirely up to you

no offence taken or infered.

Jason, Sorry maybe gawpers wasn't the best choice of wording. I should have said no wankers! I have enough trouble keeping my rear bumper clean as it is.
This is meant to be the Uberclique after all - no small windows allowed!

sooo... what youre saying is that you dont want to arrange a meet that coincides with the "annual" brick-yard meet because you dont want wankers there.

Okaaaay.

If thats your view... that the brick-yard is full of wankers and gawpers, maybe theres another forum you can use to organise this?
Confused

Sense of humour failure Tee3? Not what I meant at all.
I specifically proposed a "Big Window SA gathering" for other owners, as the vehicles are significantly different to anything Hannover built.
So... we can talk amongst ourselves about specific issues that we face as owners and drivers of these buses without the added distraction of answering questions from those who aren't. That's for another time.
I don't think anyone consciously wants the aggro of trying to source spares and diagnose faults on their own, rather than having the modest safety net of a handful of other owners to bounce queries off.
For instance, VWT32.6 has got what is probably the most original and lowest mileage SA in existance with a unique history. It's a reference vehicle for the rest of us who's buses have been mucked about, especially in the wiring dept. Owners in SA can't even get a wiring diagram FFS...
I'm proposing an additional low-key get-together, if we can organize it  through the medium of the SA forum. I am not snubbing the annual Brick-yard meet at all. What would be the point of that?
I'm sure I said "If people want to go to Vanarchy too, then fine"? I'm not telling anyone what they should or shouldn't do.
PS forgot to say Andye is more than welcome too as his doka is running the full drivetrain and wiring from that wrecked Volksiebus 2.3 he aquired, so gets honourary Uberclique membership.
Joke!!!

so, why when someone suggests arranging something with the Vanarchy meet do you first say
"No offence, but I had in mind less of a "show and tell" for gawpers"
and then say
" I should have said no wankers!"

That suggests that you believe that the Vanarchy meet is populated with Gawpers, and wankers?

Or have I, and others read it wrong?
Its nothing to do with snubbing, its to do with the way you say you dont want it at Vanarchy because you dont want gawpers and wankers there. Thats your choice, but why brand everyone that attends as such, especially as youve never actually been.

Good luck with it like, but theres no reason to be so rude and disrespectful to the rest of the forum members just because you want to keep it "exclusive"

FFS...I was not being rude or disrespectful to anyone on the forum - IT WAS A JOKE!

To be clear, yes it would be an exclusive informal gathering with specific aims for those who currently own a post-1991 SA bus, for their mutual benefit.

In the same way that a syncro gathering usually involves wild camping, offroading and the need for
working 4WD.

I'll be a bit more careful about my quips in the future in case thay are misinterpreted. Apologies.

sorry Ian, but it doesnt read that way. It doesnt read as a joke.

It reads as though you believe that holding it to coincide with Vanarchy would be a bad move because it would attract wankers (after first branding them Gawpers).

Anyway, hopefully now youve cleared up that youre not so up your own arse that you believe anyone without a big window SA bus is a wanker, i'll stop getting PMs and you can get on withorganising your "uberclique" meet LOL.

Now, i'm off to resume my position amongst the "scene fashionistas" Wink

I actually read this post like something I have been saying for years now. Some people whether enthusiasts or not !? like to lower their vehicles as much as possible and fit the biggest wheels etc etc etc and masturbate over them in a field during summer months whilst drinking shite beer, probably not doing many miles outside of show trips. Horses for courses s'pose !! I'm into these buses and drive them thousands of miles each year with trips to German bus meetings for 14 years now ! I do like hardcore German styli T3 porn, and I too have to wipe my rear bumper clean regularly !!! LOL

Oh the 'green' one ??  Very nice !!!  I'll PM you my email, if you still have probs I'll put the pictures up for you, resizing them etc. Perhaps do some of the LPG work yourself, like the filler positioning etc. I'll show you the LPG conversion on my 1994 2.5 soon with some pics etc.
