Sorry, i'm wrong...

The new VW van celebrated its launch in 1975 in Berlin. The name given to Volkswagen's large transporter was as functional as the entire vehicle: it was just called LT, which is simply the abbreviation of Lasten-Transporter (‘cargo transporter').

Or "Lasting Trouble" would be accurate!

Wow - thanks for the responses guys.

I too agree that we should keep a forum running but do need some form of web front page for visitors - I'm a member of Stoke and Staffs VeeDubs and we have a forum on Volkstorque - so that's the kind of thing I think we could model on - using a website that points to the forum.

Stickers - good idea - could they be done @ cost?

Also need a logo needs designing.

I'm going to try and speak with Ian who was the former secretary of the old LT club though I think he's lost interest now but you never know. The old club wasn't overly webwise so I think it's a writing to people job to make former members aware of us.

So - any volunteers? Anyone with webspace for starters? I think we should keep all communication here for now.

Leigh.....

Hi leigh I have plenty of webspace available - as I said previously it's Linux based so ideal for HTML, javascript, PHP & MySQL databases. I am a webmaster for www.vwsoa.co.uk which has a seperate forum at www.dorset-v-dubs.co.uk (both hosted on my servers) love the club (my brother runs it) but it's all air cooled and their not very interested in LTs (fools)  - please feel free to nick any layout or topic ideas

Mike - neat - that's one hurdle jumped already. Now the matter of content.

What do we want to see?

I would like to see:

 - a gallery of owners vans - perhaps also an area where people have made conversions with hints, tips and pics...

 - Perhaps a searchable database of technical tips, broken down into electrical, bodywork, engine, gearbox etc. etc.

- A direct static link to those lovely manuals the guys have already uploaded

- Club events diary

and the bouncers in pink, if you wouldn't mind

Mike: yes, yes, yes and yes. Bouncers?

Milk'n'Cheese: I know you can add the map-type things on ready done - 80-90 had something similar once I think. Blog idea good too.

I think this is a great idea personally. One that can really sum up how worthwhile being a member of an owners club, (VOLT) or otherwise, might really prove.

Absolutely. The vinyl is very cheap to buy and i own the machine that cuts it. They'll be no more than £1 each posted i reckon (sensible size of course!)

I'll put my brain to designing a few logo's and see what everyone thinks.

here's my website if anyone's interested

I've made us a map on zeemaps that we could use for these early stages to see where main interest lies. Everyone who is interested please add a location (or one at least nearby to where you live :P), even those just viewing and not posting :)
