Hi
Thinking of buying an automatic 2001 2.5 diesel T4 Westfalia with 100000 kms and service records? Don't know much about this model but perhaps someone could give me some advice? When should the cambelt be changed? Is this 2.5 diesel engine reliable? What are the common faults to look out for on this engine? Is the diesel pump troublesome? Any advice would be most welcomed. thank you Edited by julian67 - 20 May 20 at 19:18 |

Hi, I bought a T4 auto last year - it was immaculate, only 45k miles with some service history, 2002 model. After three months the gearbox started to play up - judders when it needs to shift up - and despite a service and some new parts it got worse. Everything I read said that these transmissions were not well designed and IF you have one which is giving trouble don't waste money on it. I took the advice and had it converted to manual, spent around £2200 all in and it drives perfectly now. Hope this helps.
